About the department

The Department of English Language was established in the academic year (2002-2003), with the first batch of graduates in the academic year (2005-2006). The department has witnessed qualitative and quantitative development in terms of the number of accepted students, graduates, teaching staff, and the degrees awarded by the department. The department is committed to accommodating and developing modern methods of foreign language learning and teaching using modern technology, owning one of the most advanced language laboratories in Iraq. The department grants two degrees to its graduates: a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and a "Diploma" in one of the major European languages. The department's professors have numerous scientific and research publications, and the department has made significant contributions to serving the community through training courses and workshops at the college and university levels. Postgraduate studies in literature were introduced for the first time in the department in the academic year (2018-2019).
