Scientific Workshop: Your Health Comes First - Health Risks from Computer Use

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Prof. Salah Awwad Salman, the Psychological Counselling and Educational Guidance Unit held a scientific workshop entitled: Your Health Comes First - Health Risks from Computer Use, on Wednesday 13-3-2024. The lectures were delivered by the lecturers (Assistant Professor Dr Baraa Tariq Hammad and Assistant Teacher Farah Moaz Jassim).

The workshop aimed to educate the college staff, including teachers, employees and our dear students, about the risks of health injuries due to excessive office work and working on computers for a long period of time and how to prevent and treat these cases to provide a healthy environment suitable for work in the university corridors in particular. The workshop also included introducing the health issues caused by tablets such as computer screens and mobile phones and their impact on vital human organs such as the eyes and the nervous system, as well as the wrong office sitting and its effects on the straightness of the body's spine where wrong practices in sitting lead to hunchback and neck bending over time. After reviewing these issues in detail, the lectures provided preventive treatment solutions such as increasing awareness of the correct body position while working and practicing special types of exercises.

The Deanship of the College and the attendees commended the organisers of the workshop and urged them to organise such workshops to raise awareness of side effects and their future risks to the human body.
