 With the widespread use of wireless technology, the time for the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology (4G) has arrived, and the fifth generation of mobile telecommunications technology (5G) will appear in the not so distant future. This study deals with certain aspects in the design of long-term evolution (LTE) systems. It focuses on the implementation of the LTE physical layer to study various aspects of LTE systems: throughput; channel model; modulation schemes; multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system performance on different channel conditions; and channel estimation techniques on receiver design and bit error rate (BER) performance on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems.
