Seismic Observatory station

 

The seismic station is the first of its kind in Anbar government, and it is part of the Iraqi Seismological Observatory (ISO) where the Seismology Laboratory at Basra University (SLUB) is the data center of the ISO network. SLUB was established in 2014 in the Department of Geology, College of Science, University of Basra.  The station and its affiliate programs was installed under the supervision of Dr. Wathiq Ghazi Abdul Nabi in 2018, the station establish as a result of scientific cooperation with the University of Basra and under the supervision of Dr. Haider Al-Shukri from Arkansas University in America supporting by Dr. Emad Abdul Rahman, the station is a part of several stations installed in different locations in Iraqi universities Network organization, which includes:

University of Basrah, University of Anbar, University of Kirkuk, University of Thi-Qar,  University of Duhok, and University of Sulaymaniyah.

The ANB1 station was installed at Anbar University under the supervision of the Department of Applied Geology in the College of Science, represented by the head of the department, Dr. Abed Saleh Fayyad, Dr. Emad Abdel Rahman, and Osama Jassim Mohammad.

President of University of Anbar Professor Dr. Khalid Batal Al-Najim inaugurated the seismic Observatory station of the Department of Applied Geology - College of Science on Tuesday 27/11/2018, which was established for the purpose of monitoring earthquakes and knowing and recording seismic data in the stable area.
