Recently, new concepts have appeared to us in the context of progress in scientific research and how to deal with our scientific product, including the Publons account. As a result of the confusion in its nature and the lack of knowledge of many researchers about it, there was a need to clarify some important information about it. It is a free site and service for academics that allows for them to follow up and present their reviews and scientific research in academic journals.The Service start in 2012 and there are too many researchers registered on the site. The site has over a million reviews across 25,000 academic journals. The project aims to “Accelerate the pace of scientific research by harnessing a powerful system for peer review.” Researchers can use their reviews as evidence of their standing and influence in their field. It also enables them to maintain their record of review and editorial activities in academic journals. The record can be uploaded to be included in CVs, funding requests, promotion and performance appraisal. It was moved to Clarivate Analytics in 2017, which has a network of tools or products like Web of Science and ScholarOne with clients in more than 100 countries and over 7,000 organizations. Publons are bringing more transparency and training to peer review practices, helping to solve some of the critical problems facing scientific research. This includes accelerating the pace of scholarly research by assisting editors.

How to register and get an account in Publons

The academic researcher can register on the Publons website by entering the registration page, including entering the required information, and then clicking on register. Be specific to the researcher.

Why Publons

Some important questions may come to mind and we often asked them and did not find an answer to them, which is, why do I register in Publons? What is the benefit of registering for aPublons account? Through the aforementioned simplified explanation, a simple question will come to our minds, which is how can I learn the art of editing, arbitration and evaluation of research and its mechanism of work clearly, and many matters related to scientific publishing. The Academy works on training researchers and novices in the evaluation process, as well as appointing trainers for them. It can give free courses to teach the evaluation process, editing, and publishing, which can give an accredited certificate from the Academy to be added in the Publons on the researcher’s page under the title Academy graduate & mentor. The one who has this certificate is a graduate of the academy and a trainer there. There is another benefit that Publons can provide, which is the Publons CV, which is a feature that can be obtained by logging into the Publons account, including going to the Private dashboard from it to the Export Publons CV, and we will be able to extract a CV that shows all our scientific output. Here we have learned all the features and benefits of Publons, but a question may come to mind, which is after all that we have learned and after completing the creation of an integrated page for Publons, now how will I present my scientific output? How will I be recognized by international journal? And how can it send me research papers for evaluation? Is my scientific output known or not? And here we can answer this question through the well-known proverb “a book is known by its title.” As long as you pay attention to your personal page and update it first, this indicates that you are a follower researcher and when entering your personal page in Publons we will be able to know what is your specialty or field of creativity and you will be You have an academic reputation among your peers within the specialty, and you may be more fortunate than others in choosing you as a reviewer, but is this enough for me to be known to international journals? Here, Publons made a step that may be important and useful for researchers, which is the so-called ratification of the journal/conference endorsement. We must try to search for any journal whose specialization is close to ours by clicking on Endorse This Journal.
