The department was established in the academic year 2001-2002. The department received 40 students and they are graduated in the academic year 2004-2005. The department witnessed a qualitative and quantitative development in terms of the number of accepted students, graduates, teaching staff and the certificates granted by the department, since the postgraduate studies were introduced in the linguistics and literature branches. The department has a large number of scientific and research works. The department has made many valuable contributions to the community service and maintaining the integrity of the Arabic language through training courses, workshops and language auditing initiatives at the college and university levels.
