 A workshop at Anbar University on the vision and priorities of Anbar Governorate within the agenda and goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) organized today Monday the 29th of July, in cooperation with the Anbar Governorate and the University of Anbar, a workshop tagged the vision and priorities of Anbar Governorate within the agenda and goals of sustainable development 2030 in Anbar Governorate at the College of Administration and Economics Hall in the presence of Prof. Engineer Khaled Battal Al-Najm The President of Anbar University, Mr. Faisal Al-Issawi, a member of the Iraqi Parliament, Mr. Maan Marai, Director of the United Nations Development Program Office in Anbar, the University's assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, and a number of faculty deans, university professors, and department directors

 

During the workshop, the President of the University delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, stressing the importance of this workshop in which the mechanism for sustainable development is presented and the points to be drawn up by the United Nations in developing a long-term strategy in this regard, noting that this workshop is a continuation of many steps that the university have worked on. The cultural center that was recently created in our university is the best evidence to spreading the culture of sustainable development, after which the representative of the governor of Anbar delivered a speech on the occasion in which he conveyed the greetings of the governor and confirmed the support of the governorate and the local government in this field, then a speech by Mr. Maan Marai in which he indicated that the program seeks to achieve Supporting the Iraqi government and restoring stability to achieve sustainable development goals, praising the effective role of Anbar University in this field. Then the topics of the workshop chaired by Dr. Abdul Aziz Al Jassim, Advisor to the President of the University for Public Relations, included a lecture by Mr. Hussein Subhi from the Office of the United Nations Development Program in Baghdad, in which he discussed the goals of Sustainable development and an introduction to the Iraqi government project to support the implementation and monitoring of the sustainable development goals, as well as discussing the results and indicators of the sustainable development goals and the main elements to achieve them and the desired results to be achieved from the United Nations 2030 plan. In the meantime Prof. Thaer Shaker Mahmoud, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, discussed a topic on Anbar's priorities in the field of sustainable development 2030, in which he addressed the strengths and weaknesses in the province and the strategic goals and the most important comparative and spatial advantages of Anbar Governorate, the tree of developmental goals, sectoral and spatial development priorities, proposals and development vision, as well as the proposed policies in Anbar Governorate. Then the door was opened for discussion, where a number of questions and inquiries were raised by the attendees, which were discussed and answered by the specialists.
