History

  The department was founded in 2019 in relative to presidential university document according to document of planning and studies dept. numbered as 6620 dated in 29/7/2019 as document of ministry of higher education and scientific research issued with number of B T 8/7029 in 21/7/2019. Thus, the department is the fourth research one established in center for desert studies at university of Anbar. Many researchers were joined into this department belonging to agronomy and soil sciences to support the department.

Prof Dr. Ali F. Almehemdi was appointed as first head of this Dept. according to university document of  84 in 19/1/2020

 

Mission

Dept. of conservation agriculture will actively contribute to achieve the mission of center for desert studies represented by broadcasting the scientific knowledge that related to agricultural natural resources management with highly efficacy. Thus, it will avail food and sustainable agricultural development. Furthermore, ecosystem and its components will be conserved across deterioration processes to conserve sustainability of production when these components were used with minimum limits. This dept. also qualifies the experts that sustain agroecology components and conducted applicable research and studies to serve agrosystem.

 

Dept scope

It could be summarized as below

 

1.  Availability of research console that assists researchers and community to learn, develop their activities and serve chances to perform their applicable mission.

2.  The superiority in scientific research and preparation of studies to fortify the community with experts that possess high ability to develop and sustain the healthy food using simple available natural resources.

3.  Stimulation of applicable researches and studies that internationally possess competitiveness.

4.  Elicitation of scientific knowledge patterns and tools that could lay out in conservation agriculture to sustain agricultural resources and combat land deterioration.

5.  Solidification of the interaction between community and scientific institutions.

 

Objectives

 

The department seeks to achieve the following main goals

 

1.     Development of scientific research programs and semesters supported by applicable techniques that solve the community problems and its requirements. These requirements related to conservation and preservation of agricultural and non-agricultural resources.

2.     Preparation and training of scientific researchers in conservation and preservation of agricultural desert lands and sustain the lands production.

3.     Keeping up with the plans of sustainable agricultural development and increase the skills that correlated with not degraded lands.

4.     Increase of area, water and crop gains especially under tension and stresses.

5.     Using RT and GIS  to determine the lands that effected by agricultural mechanization, herbicides, insecticides and fertilizers. Accordingly, we shall determine the effective methods to combat its problems.

6.     Integration with other available specialties, abilities and sources. Therefore, efforts will not be wasted and achieve the management integration.
