University of Anbar has been ranked the first among the Iraqi universities, the sixteenth among the Arab universities and the forty-third in the Middle East in the field of research outputs according to the Scimago ranking. The Scimago Institutions Rankings, which was launched in April 2020, is based on three criteria: Research output, innovation and social relationship. In terms of research output, University of Anbar came in the 343rd position globally,  and the first position among other Iraqi universities.

Such impressive results came as a result of the tremendous efforts made by the presidency of the university represented by the  university president, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib al-Nada,  vice-presidents for scientific and administrative  affairs, deans of colleges, and faculty members for their hard working. On this occasion, the University President, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Salih, congratulated all university  teaching and administrative staff, including vice-chancellors, deans of colleges, researchers and other employees. His Excellency affirmed that this progress is a true parameter of the solid scientific plan prepared and followed by the University of Anbar, praising the distinguished job of the International Classifications Unit and the supporting departments and centers in highlighting the university’s output at the scientific, research and societal levels
