Confidently Advancing on the Global Stage: University of Anbar Makes Notable Progress Worldwide and in Asia, Ranking Among the Top 6% of Participating Universities in the 2026 UI GreenMetric Sustainability Ranking. The University of Anbar continues its progress toward global recognition, achieving notable results in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. It ranked 120th worldwide among 2,016 participating universities and higher education institutions from 110 countries, and 63rd in Asia. This places it among the top 6% of participating institutions worldwide.

This achievement reflects the University of Anbar’s strategic vision, led by its President, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Saleh Al-Neda, to build “a sustainable, green, digital and smart university city that competes globally.” The vision brings together environmental sustainability, digital transformation, innovation and efficient use of resources to create a modern university environment.

UI GreenMetric is a global ranking focused on university sustainability. It assesses areas including campus infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste and water management, transportation, and sustainability-related education and research. The 2026 edition also places particular emphasis on governance, digitalization and integrated campus performance.
