In recent years, the world has witnessed fundamental developments that affected various aspects of life and affected various types of institutions, which generated a new world called globalization, in which the scientific revolution and the tremendous technological developments prevailed.

This new reality has created an increasing need for a new type of dealing with the current human reality, which requires global thinking and local action.

The human element is the most important pillar on which human development is based, which leads us to achieve sustainable development.

Development in the language is a source derived from the verb grew, which means increased, and it means increase and abundance, and from it grows and develops, and thus development is the act of growth and work to bring about it (whether in money or otherwise).

As for development (terminally), it is changing conditions for the better, and this happens by means and procedures planned in advance, and put into practice. achieve it

Development takes many forms and is a new opportunity for the quality of development in all aspects of life and how to distribute its benefits to all strata of society, to achieve the ultimate goal, which is sustainable development that imposes itself as a practical concept for the multiple problems that challenge humanity.

What is sustainable development?

Whoever talks about sustainable development as a concept is credited with sculpting it to the Pakistani researcher "Mahboob Al-Haq" and the Indian researcher "Amratyas", during their period of work within the framework of the United Nations Development Program. The human being is the starting point and its goal, and we deal with the human or social dimensions of development as the dominant element, and we look at material energies as a condition for achieving sustainable development. The United Nations has paid special attention to the concept of human development since 1990 when it issued the first report on human development. According to the Human Development Report issued by the United Nations Development Program, human development is defined as “the process of expanding people’s choices” and choices can be It is absolute, and it can change over time, but the three basic options at all levels of human development are:

1- That people live a healthy physical life.

2- Acquisition of knowledge.

3- Obtaining the resources necessary for a decent standard of living.

Through our understanding of sustainable development, we have a clear vision that any development in any region must have a role for the geographer, through his important role in solving many problems of development balance between regions and giving the future dimension to the development of any geographical region in its temporal and spatial dimensions, which is included within the concept of sustainable development. future geography.

The geographer also works on clarifying and drawing a picture of the distribution of development results among geographical regions in a balanced manner, aware and vigilant of the development of the poorer geographical regions or regions and trying to balance them with the richer geographical regions, in order to reach the stage of development justice, and the geographer has a prominent role in practical events Sustainable development through its use of statistical means, most notably the development rank indicator and the development status indicator. The role of the geographer is not limited to the study of development from the aspects that have been referred to, but also contributes to the introduction of development within its main concepts and to highlight the distribution, variance and spatial relations, as it examines the varying levels of development between countries. The distribution of countries according to their position in the development ladder.

The geographer also believes that development means finding the best ways to exploit the resources of a region to achieve the well-being of its residents and meet its aspirations, and that these resources differ in their distribution from one scope to another, and the ways of exploiting them differ according to the population's ability to do so, and then this is reflected in the varying levels of quality of life.

Hence the issue of spatial differences in levels of development and the role of the geographer comes to highlight those differences, so sustainable development is known from the geographer's point of view as the legal investment of the resources of the different regions with the aim of providing the needs of the population at present and improving their living standards without affecting subsequent generations.

The geographer also contributes to crystallizing the spatial interaction of development and the different spatial patterns that lead to it. Hence, the geography of development emerged, which is one of the branches of human geography from which sustainable development emerged, which means the use of natural resources in a way that guarantees the preservation of the rights of future generations, based in his vision on rationalizing the use of natural resources. Everything that would prolong the survival of the product of economic, social and technological matters.

In this regard, geographers see that sustainable human development has two aspects:

1- Human development by focusing on the formation and building of human capacities through rationing and maintaining the quality of the resources currently available to humans and the sustainability of those resources, whether they are natural resources or manufactured resources.

2- Development by people, in which people must fully participate in the planning and implementation of its strategy through appropriate decision-making structures. Humans to innovate.
