Scientific Symposium of the Department of Applied Geology - College of Science

The Department of Applied Geology at the College of Science held a scientific symposium titled ((Hydrocarbons in Western desert - Anbar province and the round of oil licensing) on ​​Wednesday, 19/12/2018 at 9:00 am at Jabber bin Haiyan Hall in the College. The seminar was attended by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Taleb Al Nada, the assistant of the president of the university for scientific affairs, a number of deans of colleges at the university, a group of lecturers and researchers from inside and outside the university, a group of experts from the North Oil Company and oil exploration company as well as a number of students of undergraduate and graduate studies.

The symposium aims to focus the light on the presence of oil and gas in the western desert of Anbar province and ways of using it to support the Iraqi national economy. The seminar included five lectures. The first lecture was given by Mr. Jameel Kamouna, the second general director of the oil exploration company, the second lecture (by Dr. Nahadh Maarouf) retired oil expert entitled ((Evaluation of hydrocarbon probabilities in Anbar province - analysis of structures and the construction and history of the sedimentary basin)) ,the third lecture (by Dr. Abush Hadidi) , the fourth (by Mr. Saad Obaid) entitled ((round of oil licenses)), and the fifth lecture was the head of the geologists (retired), Nasser Hussein al-Hadithi of the North Oil.

The seminar came out with a set of recommendations in the field of investment development to exploit the oil, mineral and gas resources found in the desert of Anbar province.
