Discussion of PhD thesis (Younis Saber Mutter) from the Dept. of Chemistry

The public discussion of the doctoral student (Younis Saber Muttar), Department of Chemistry - College of Science – University of  Anbar took place on Wednesday 3/3/2021 at the Jaber Bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science for his thesis tagged (Study of Some Moringa Oleifera Components and Effect of their Aqueous Extract on Oxidative Stress During  Ischemia / Reperfusion Brain Damage.)

The discussion committee consisted of: -

Prof. Muayad Imran Musa Al-Ghazali- President of Al-Ameed University, as president

Prof. Firas Taher Maher -Tikrit University - College of Science as a member

Prof. Alaa Hussein Awwad- Nahrain University - College of Science as a member

Prof. Qutaybah Farhan Daoud,  University of Anbar - College of Education for Pure Sciences as a member

M.D. Bilal Jasser Muhammad, Anbar University - College of Applied Sciences / Heet, member

M.D. Khaled Farouk Abdul-Ghafour, University of Anbar, College of Science, member and supervisor

M.D. Mustafa Taha Muhammad Al-Mustansiriya University - College of Science, member and supervisorThe present study aims to evaluate the efficacy of Moringa Oleifera extract in protecting the brain after inducing sudden oxidative stress in an animal model of stroke.

The study included detection of compounds in the plant extract, and evaluation of the extract inside the body by monitoring markers of oxidation and antioxidants

The results showed by analyzing the mass and atomic absorption spectrum that Moringa Oleifera contains a number of vitamins, phenolic compounds, fatty acids and a number of important elements.

The results of our study showed that induction of hypoxia by blocking arteries induced oxidative stress. When compared with the control group, as for the treatment group, it was observed that Moringa Oleifera can significantly enhance the antioxidant activity.
