Water security between reality and challenges


Under the generous and blessed patronage of Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Neda, president of the University of Anbar, and on the occasion of World Water Day, the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center in cooperation with the Al-Aghsan institution for Agricultural and Environmental Development held a joint scientific symposium entitled: "Water Security between Reality and Challenges", on Monday, 22nd of March 2021, at 10:00 a.m., on the Hall of the College of Engineering- Department of Civil Engineering.

The symposium was attended by The respected President of the University, The respected Dean of the College of Engineering, The respected Advisor to the Governor of Anbar for Environmental Affairs, The respected Director of Water Resources in the Province, representatives of some relevant official government departments in the province, representatives of the Ministry of Environment, and a number of teaching and specialists.

The symposium session was undertaken by Prof. Dr. Isam Mohammed Abdulhameed, Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center and Associate Professor Dr. Khalid Naji Asal, Director of the adminisstrative Board of Al-Aghsan institution for Agricultural and Environmental Development. The topics of the meeting were:

1-    The role of academic organizations in the sustainable development of Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Naji Asal.

2-    The proposed dams to maintain the water security of Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel.

3-    (Water Harvesting) reality and the future visions of the assistant instructor Dhuha Alaa al-Falahi.

4-    Evaluating the role of agricultural production components affecting agricultural development in Anbar province by Prof. Kamal Saleh Gazguz.

Finally, scientific discussions on the topics raised at the symposium session came up with some important recommendations aimed at preserving water resources and how to exploit them in the best way.

The Respected President of the University recommended the preparation of recommendations derived from these important topics, which were knocked down in the themes of the symposium, and adopted his sovereignty to submit it to the ministry concerned to obtain approvals for the implementation of what can be implemented.

At the end of the symposium, The Respected President of the University presented a number of certificates of appreciation to the participating researchers and the committees supervising the symposium and to a number of distinguished guests.
