The role of economists and businessmen in developing the concept of entrepreneurship for graduates and reducing unemployment

Under the patronage of the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mushtak Taleb Al-Neda, and within the activities of the Sustainable Development Week, the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, in cooperation with the College of Administration and Economics and the Rehabilitation and Employment Department at the University Presidency, held a workshop named: (The Role of Economists and Businessmen in Developing the Concept of Entrepreneurship for Graduates and Reducing Entrepreneurship Unemployment), on Monday, May 31, 2022, in the discussion hall at the College of Administration and Economics - University of Anbar.

The session was opened by the Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, with a speech of thanks and gratitude to the College of Administration and Economics, which hosted the activities of the workshop, and to those who responded to the invitation. According to the direction of the presidency of the university to achieve the goals of sustainable development and Vision 2030, praising the great support provided by the university to the activities and directions for developing entrepreneurship and the role of the Department of Qualification and employment in this field, and trying to find suitable job opportunities for them by all possible means, and to include this within the university’s strategic plans. After that, the presentations of the lectures were started by researchers and specialists in this field, and they were as follows:

- Intellectual capital (the presence of the mind ... and the absence of the body) / by the Instructor Dr. Bilal Kamel Odeh - a member in the College of Administration and Economics.

- Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurship: Contemporary Visions / Instructor Ahmed Dhia’a El-Din Salah El-Din - Instructor of the College of Administration and Economics.

- The industrial sector in Iraq: what is it and what it owes / for the teacher, Dr. Muthanna Firas Ibrahim - an instructor at the College of Administration and Economics.

After the presentation of the lectures by the researchers, the discussion was opened, which affected the value and importance of the topic of the workshop, and in an intervention by the President of the University, he pointed out two important points, the first of which is that he expects the professors of the College of Administration and Economics to make a lot of effective contributions to the topic of entrepreneurship and to have an actual practical role in finding solutions to the problems of society and he is very confident their scientific and creative capabilities, and not to be restricted to lectures and teaching. The second, His Excellency referred to the clear absence of businessmen from the work and attendance of this important workshop, directing the need for companies operating in the university and the governorate to have a clear and effective presence in these events and to work on that and build bridges of cooperation and trust between employers and professors at the university. For their part, the lecturers clarified the obstacles that hinder the role of economists and businessmen in contributing to the development of the industrial, agricultural and human aspects that contribute to reducing the unemployment rate, especially among graduates, and reducing unemployment.

The workshop was attended by the Honorable the President of University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Mushtak Taleb Al-Neda, the Honorable Administrative Assistant to the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Atheer Anwar Shareef, the Honorable Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Abed Ali Hamad, the Honorable Dean of the College of Literature, Prof. Dr. Arif Abed Sayel, and the Adviser Governor of Anbar for investment affairs, and Mr. Ma’an Al-Mara’ee, Director of the Regional Office of the United Nations Developmental Program, and a number of specialists and experienced in the field of administration and economics, and a number of university instructors and students.

At the end of the workshop, it was agreed on a number of important recommendations that will be formulated and submitted to the official authorities, in order to contribute to addressing the unemployment situation and activating the role of economists and businessmen in developing the concept of entrepreneurship for graduates and reducing unemployment in Anbar Governorate. Letters of thanks and appreciation were presented to the participants in the workshop.
