Electrotechnical workshop

The Women's Affairs Division at the University of Anbar held an online workshop titled "The Role of the Family in Reducing Drug Abuse," in collaboration with the Center for Continuing Education. The workshop was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Asra’a Adnan Abdul-Jalil, and the session was managed by Assistant Professor Dr. Maha Fawaz Khalifa.

The workshop included a set of recommendations emphasizing the important role of parents in educating their children about the dangers of drugs and instilling religious deterrents against such behaviors that aim to cloud the mind and deviate human nature. It also stressed the importance of choosing friends from known acquaintances to avoid bad company. The workshop covered various topics, including understanding what drugs are, their types and nature, and the role of parents in protecting the family and, consequently, society from this menace.

At the end of the workshop, a documentary film made by a group of female students from the College of Education for Women was shown. The film aimed to convey the students' awareness to their peers, encouraging them to be more selective in choosing close friends and to take on an advisory role if they notice any negative behaviors among them.

A discussion was then opened for opinions and ideas on a series of awareness lectures targeting students within the university, along with the dissemination of awareness posters to prevent the excessive use of sleeping pills or painkillers that some students might resort to during exam periods and study pressures. Medical consultations were recommended to avoid the harmful effects of such practices.

It is worth mentioning that the Women's Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has directed the organization of activities and awareness lectures on the dangers of drugs and the misuse of medical drugs.
