Department of History
· The department was founded in 1989-1990
· The department aims at providing students with historical sciences and methods of historical research. The department also aims at qualify students psychologically and educationally to teach in schools and institutions. The department works on building student’s personality in terms of behaviour and intellect to take a leading role in her community.
· Duration of the study is 4 years after which the student is awarded a bachelor degree in historical arts.
The department vision
The department assumes that students should obtain diverse historical knowledge necessary to understand the reality of human existence in her past and present, and to foresee the future horizons. They also need to identify the nation’s past and civilization in order to preserve the local culture and the Arab Islamic identity. In addition, students can acquire the necessary skills to keep pace with modern trends in historical scientific research. The department also prepares an academically and professionally qualified generation to serve the community and meet the needs of the labor market.
The Department Objectives
· The department aims at graduating qualified and specialized staff to work in public education, Diplomacy, media, social services and archeology.
· Graduating students who are qualified to pursue their higher studies in History.
· Preparing researchers to work in historical research centers to serve the country and the Islamic nation in general.
· Consolidating the values of citizenship and promoting Islamic identity.
· Preparing researchers to conduct researches in various historical fields utilizing modern techniques.
