Academic article titled Population policy (demographic)

Population policy represents government measures that seek to change population realities or that have already changed them. It is a specific position taken by the state regarding the size of the population through legislative measures, administrative programs and other government measures to influence the trends of population growth, especially births, deaths and migration (1) .

In other words, the population policy is a set of measures taken by the government with the aim of changing the course of demographic development, so it is the state's policy with regard to the demographic behavior of its population in the present and the future(2) . and therefore the demographic population policy is an important pillar for economic and social development strategies and improving the quality of life in society . Since each country has its own economic and political conditions for the population, which follows the restoration of their needs and necessities, the population policies varied and the treatments differed and took several directions, including (3):-

1- Countries whose economic resources are limited, had to choose a population policy consistent with their circumstances and resources towards limiting childbearing.

2- Countries that possess large natural, mineral and plant resources, food capabilities, and rising development conditions, in contrast to the size of the population, which is characterized by low numbers and low population density. Therefore, these countries must encourage increased childbearing in order to achieve the national goals to achieve a balance between the size of the population and the needs of the development of the workforce.

3- Countries that seek to achieve moderate rates, an adequate population size, and a balanced distribution in order to reach a balance between the available livelihoods and the population

This is what is known as the optimum population limit, taking into account the security dimensions of these countries.
