The Internal System of the Center for Strategic Studies
The Center for Strategic Studies was established in 2013 at Anbar University and it is linked to the office of the President of the University.
Article 1: Definition
The status of the center is research and the studies conducted are of an applied and theoretical nature. The center has an annual research plan that is updated every three months, and the quorum of researchers at the center consists of 3-5 annual researches.
Article 2: Objectives and tasks
The laboratory (or research center) has the following tasks
1- Openness to research centers in Iraqi universities, neighboring countries and the world, by linking the center with digital libraries to provide it with scientific and historical information and establishing cultural relations, studies and seminars with these centers.
2-Deepening the link between the university and developing economic and human institutions in Iraq and abroad.
3- Joint cooperation with researchers inside and outside Iraq to study environmental, economic, social and political problems and develop appropriate solutions for them.
4- Providing advisory support to decision-makers and relevant authorities.
5-Conducting studies and researches on issues related to security and strengthening means of political stability and current vital issues on the international arena.
Article 3: Structure of the Center:
The center consists of:
1- Administrative section: the center director and two administrative staff members.
2- Scientific departments:
- Department of Heritage and Civilization
- Department of Local and Regional Studies
- Department of Future Studies
Article 4: Management of the Center:
The center is managed by a director, assisted by the center's council.
The research center is managed by:-
- Director of the center with the rank of professor. Currently, prof. Thaer Shaker Mahmoud appointed on May 23 2016.
- The head of the heritage and civilization department has not yet been assigned since the previous department head was exempted.
- Dr. Falah Mubarak Bardan is Currently appointed as the head of the Department of Future Studies.
The head of a department for the local studies has not yet been assigned after the exemption of the previous head.
Director:
Prof.Dr. Thaer Shaker Mahmoud
The director has the following tasks:
1- Follow-up of administrative performance and attendance of department heads.
2-Communication with the Research and Development Department - the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to follow up on the approved scientific plan.
3- Addressing the corresponding centers to strengthen the bonds of joint cooperation and carry out joint activities.
Center Council:
The Laboratory Board (or Research Center) consists of:
1- President of the University - Chairman of the Board of Directors
2-Director of the Center as Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors
3-Representative of the province council
4- Heads of scientific departments at the center
The Center Council has the following duties:
1-Developing the center’s work plan and activities for the whole academic year
2- Naming the annual research projects.
3- Communicating with government agencies and foreign institutions to establish joint projects and obtain support to implement these projects.
4-Submitting a recommendation to the university to choose the heads of the scientific departments
