Scientific Seminar
Part of the scientific events and activities of the College of Pharmacy for the academic year 2023-2024. College of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Chemistry Branch organized a scientific seminar entitled:
"Chemical Safety"
The seminar begin with the presentation of Assistant Professor Dr. Uqba Nafi Abdel Aziz, Head of department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry , then presentation is is given by Assistant Lecturer Sahar Faiq.
The seminar aims to clarify the health and safety precautions that must be taken in chemical laboratories and review common dangerous chemicals and flammable liquids commonly used in chemical laboratories, as well as oxidants, organic peroxides, toxic and infectious materials, internal and external dangers in laboratories, safety precautions when dealing with glassware, and safety tools that must be available in Chemical laboratories, as well as the necessary precautions for ventilating laboratories and methods for dealing with chemical fires, and a review of the crisis management and evacuation plan in emergency situations, and finally a review of methods for disposing of leftover chemicals and chemical waste that are no longer necessary in laboratories.
At the end of this scientific seminar, the floor is was opened for discussions, which enriched the topic with many ideas and suggestions.
