Prof. Dr. Yassin Hameed Beda Head of the Geography Department A briefing about the Department of Geography and its Importance • The Department was established in the academic year 2001-2002. • The department includes 21 teaching staff, including (17) with a Ph.D. and (4) with a (Master's) degree. • The number of teachers with the title of professor (6), assistant professor (9) and those with the title of teacher (4) and those with the title of assistant teacher (2). • The first batch of students graduated (initial studies) in the academic year 2004-2005. • The department has four stages of study, and it grants a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. • The number of graduate students until the year 2020-2021 reached (1049) students in preliminary studies. • The duration of study in the department is 4 years. • Postgraduate studies (Masters) were opened in the department in the year 2005-2006, and studies for the doctoral stage (Human) were opened in the department in the academic year 2017-2018. • The number of graduate students from postgraduate studies (Master's until the current academic year 2020-2021) reached (77) students, and the number of graduate students for the doctoral stage (Human) until the year 2020-2021 reached (4) students.
