  Powers of the College Council

The College Council exercises the following powers for the purpose of running the college's work and achieving its goals:

 First: Scientific Powers:

1- Drawing the college policy in line with the general policy of the university and achieving its mission.

2- Preparing admission plans for primary and postgraduate studies in the college departments.

3- Preparing a plan for scientific research, writing and translation for the college departments.

4- Recommending the creation, merging or abolition of scientific departments or branches.

5- Recommending the introduction of postgraduate studies in the college.

6- Considering the plans of the scientific departments regarding inviting visiting professors, conferences, scientific symposia, delegations, sabbaticals, secondments and vacations inside and outside the country, and recommending them to the president of the university for approval.

7- Approval of the titles of theses and dissertations for graduate studies and approval of the nomination of supervisors for graduate students and the nomination of members of the discussion committees.

8- Nomination of the members of the comprehensive examination committees for doctoral students.

9- Reconsider the curricula of graduate and primary studies periodically and distribute them to the academic stages.

10- Approving the schedules of the graduate and preliminary studies exams after they have been submitted by the departments and scientific branches in the college.

11- Approval of the final exams schedules after they have been uploaded by the scientific departments and branches.

12- Approval of the academic promotion of a faculty member (teacher and assistant professor) and submit it to the university to issue a university order.

13- Recommending to the President of the University to promote a faculty member to the rank of professorship after completing its procedures by the Academic Promotions Committee in the college.

14- Approval to postpone the academic year for college students after providing convincing justifications and the required documents

15- Approval of the first extension for postgraduate students (6 six months) and on the recommendation of the department council.

16- Recommending to the President of the University to approve the second and third extension for postgraduate students based on the proposal of the department or scientific branch council in the college

17- Recommending the assignment of faculty members and lecturers for postgraduate studies as needed and for the period specified by the departments.

18- Concluding scientific and cultural agreements with the corresponding colleges inside and outside the country and submitting them to the university for approval

Second: Administrative Powers

1- Supervising the affairs of the college and following up on its scientific, cultural, artistic and sports activities.

2- Preparing the faculty for the next academic year in the second half of the current academic year in light of the proposal of the Dean and the departmental and branch councils.

3- Reconsidering the titles of technicians and administrators within the certified staff of the college.

4- Reviewing the faculty’s staff periodically.

5- Forming committees to help him perform his scientific, administrative and educational tasks.

6- Imposing disciplinary sanctions on students.

7- Recommending that teachers and employees be punished with one of the penalties for violating the laws and instructions in force.

8- Recommending the abolition of penalties imposed on teachers and employees after their purposes have been exhausted.

9- Recommending the abolition of penalties imposed on teachers and employees after they are convinced that the justifications have disappeared.

10- Recommending the referral of any of the college’s employees to the competent courts as a result of their violation of the provisions of the law.

Third: Financial Powers:

1- Propose the annual budget plan, import plan and investment plan for the college and submit it to the university president to unify it with the plans of other colleges and institutes and submit it to the university council for approval.

2- Recommending the university to approve the final accounts of the college.

3- Reviewing and discussing the report of the Board of Financial Supervision of the college and expressing an opinion on the observations contained therein.

4- To authorize the dean of the college or institute some powers.
