The Applications of ANSYS FLUENT-CFD

Assist. Prof. Amer J. Shareef

ANSYS FLUENT assists in making better, faster decisions. This programme frees up time for you to innovate and improve product results. With software that has been thoroughly tested across a wide variety of applications, you can have confidence in your simulation performance. You can develop advanced physics models and analyse a variety of fluid phenomena with ANSYS FLUENT, all in a customizable and intuitive environment [1]:

1.    User-Friendly Interface

2.    Best-In-Class Physics Models

3.    Single Window, Streamlined Workflow

4.    Parallel Capabilities for Meshing and Solving.

ANSYS FLUENT Capabilities

ANSYS FLUENT expands the capabilities of CFD analysis. A fluid simulation platform with quick pre-processing and solve times that will help you be the first to market. ANSYS FLUENT’s industry-leading features allow for endless creativity without sacrificing accuracy [1].

ANSYS FLUENT Key Features

Fluent software contains the broad, as shown in Figure 1, physical modelling capabilities needed to model [2] [3], just for example:

1.    Laminar flow

2.    Turbulence flow

3.    Heat transfer

4.    Multiphase Flow

5.    Electric Motor Cooling

6.    Combustion Models

7.    Battery Modelling

8.    Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI)

9.    Reactions for industrial applications.

10. Phase change material (PCM), etc.

These range from airflow over an aircraft wing to combustion in a furnace, from bubble columns to oil platforms, from blood flow to semiconductor manufacturing and from cleanroom design to wastewater treatment plants. Fluent spans an expansive range, including special models, with capabilities to model in-cylinder combustion, aero-acoustics, turbomachinery and multiphase systems.

Fluent also offers highly scalable, high-performance computing (HPC) to help solve complex, large-model computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations quickly and cost-effectively. Fluent set a world supercomputing record by scaling to 172,000 cores [2].
