Participation in the Scientific Symposium: "Sustainable Cities, Planning, Implementation, and Management"

Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Anbar, Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Nida, the Renewable Energy Research Center participated in the scientific symposium organized by the College of Engineering in collaboration with the Center for Strategic Studies and the Engineering Advisory Office at the College of Engineering. The symposium took place on Monday, February 26, 2024, in the Ibn Al-Haitham Hall of the department, addressing the theme: "Sustainable Cities, Planning, Implementation, and Management."

The symposium, attended by the esteemed Vice President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Wissam Hashim Khalil, and the Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Amir Abdul Rahman Hilal, along with various specialized engineers and faculty members from different departments of the province, aimed to introduce the indicators for sustainable cities through optimal planning, implementation, and management. This includes infrastructural aspects such as green buildings, as well as the strategic dimensions of using renewable energy. The symposium also shed light on improving project management and its impact on city sustainability.

The symposium session, chaired by Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Sarhan, and moderated by Omar Fakhri Mohammed, covered the following topics:

- City Planning Indicators

- Uses of Renewable Energy

- Urban Sustainability

- Investment Projects

Valuable lectures were delivered by specialized professors and researchers, including a presentation by the Assistant Professor Raed Khudair Salman from the Center for Renewable Energy Research. His lecture, titled "Strategic Dimensions of Using Renewable Energy in Iraq and the Western Region," emphasized the importance of strategic planning in city construction and the significance of sustainability to reduce emissions, making cities more conducive to living.

After the lectures, the session's chair opened the floor for discussions, where extensive questions were posed, exchanging opinions and insights among the presenters and participants. In conclusion, the symposium's recommendations were read, followed by the distribution of certificates of appreciation to the speakers by the Vice President of the University and the Dean of the College for the members of the scientific and organizing committees.
