 Scientific symposium at the Faculty of Education for Human Sciences on raising awareness of the threat of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to young people

As directed by Mr. Rector Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Taleb Alnda Respected and supervised by Mr. Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Taha Ibrahim Shabib, the Women Empowerment Unit of the College in collaboration established the University Health Centre, a scientific seminar entitled (Risk of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to young people from a medical, educational and psychological perspective), in which he attended: Dr. Mais Faez Ahmed from the University Health Center and Prof. Dr. Saada Hamdi Sweidan Wadar Al Warsha A.M.D. Omar Khalaf Rasheed on the Al-Abi Al-Praise Al-Wasi Hall in the Faculty Adada on Wednesday, 2/7.

The aim was to identify the harm and danger of drugs to the human person, the negative effects they cause, the causes of abuse and the importance of continuous awareness-raising and education by the family and the institutions of society in order to reduce the spread and further expansion of the drug phenomenon, especially among young people, who are the target group. The doctor, Mays, provided an explanation on drugs, drug addiction, the harm and causes of drug abuse and how to identify drug users, indicating their level of impact, seriousness and manner of abuse, classifying such drugs according to their impact and methods of treatment, how to protect society against their dangers, developing national plans to combat them, and working to develop effective national policies in the field of control at all levels.

His Excellency Hamdi, speaking on the family and its role in reducing the phenomenon of abuse, stated that the family had an important role to play in raising the awareness of their children about the dangers of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, by monitoring their behaviour and visiting them at school and universities, as well as knowing the friends around them and monitoring their actions.

The symposium concluded with questions from the floor and presented the important recommendations recommended by the symposium to reduce this serious phenomenon
