Discussing the PhD thesis of the student (Mahir Khalil Ibrahim)

On Thursday, July 1, 2021, a discussion took place in Jaber bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science, University of Anbar, a discussion of doctoral student Mahir Khalil Ibrahim from the Department of Physics in his tagged thesis.

(Employment the Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) Induced by Laser for the Manufacture of Fiber Optic Sensor for Water Pollution)

The thesis aims to test increasing the efficiency of optical fiber sensors, which are based in the sensing process on the use of laser-induced surface plasmon resonance (SPR) to sense water pollutants..

Where the research included, in part, conducting a theoretical study and a simulation process using the COMSOL program to test the efficiency of the optical fiber for sensing by changing some of its basic parameters. From the optical fiber etched with gold metal, with a nano-thickness of 42 nm.

The researcher reached the possibility of increasing the efficiency of optical fibers for sensing water pollution by making some changes and operations related to its basic structure and increasing the efficiency of sensing through the phenomenon of laser-induced surface plasmon resonance.

During the research phase, the researcher published three research papers in the journals AIP Conference and IOP Conference, which are within Scopus’s containers.
