The public discussion of the doctoral student (Bihar Muqdad Abdulla), Department of Biology - College of Science - University of Anbar, took place on Tuesday, 24/8/2021 at Jaber bin Hayyan Hall in the College of Science for her thesis tagged: -

(( Study of the possibility of using toxins produced by Saccharomyces cerevisiae and the interaction with the fungus Trichoderma sp.  in controlling damping-off disease caused by the fungus Pythium spp)).

The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of the crude and purified toxins (isolated from S. cerevisiae) and Trichoderma sp filtrates in controlling Tomato damping - off disease caused by Pythium sp. in soil. The study indicated that all treatments achieved efficiency in reducing the percentage of tomato seedlings damping - off pre or post-emergence as compared with control treatment, . In general, the crude toxins were the most efficient in protecting tomato seedlings from damping off infection than pure toxins.
