A new patent added to the achievements of the College of Science

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mishaal Muhammad, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, obtained the patent tagged ((Design of a new flow-injection system for preparing gold nanoparticles and estimating their ions)).

Where the idea is based on preparing gold nanoparticles and estimating their ions in a flow-injection method, by thinking about designing a flow-injection system that consists of the following main parts (peristaltic pump, injection valve, reaction coils, detector, and signal recorder).

The goal of manufacturing this system is to increase the possibility of dealing with the interactions of nanomaterials and their preparation and use this system to estimate them in a more easy and accurate manner, at the same time allowing the possibility of matching the results with other techniques (such as potentiometric measurements, conductivity measurements and atomic absorption measurements) under the same conditions.

The system designed to prepare gold nanoparticles was used through the interaction of chloro-goldic acid with a sodium citrate solution using appropriate heat and by applying the position flow technique, where it produces solutions of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that gave absorption at wavelengths ranging from (520 - 525) nm.
