Scientific symposium entitled: Employing administrative methods and modern technologies in the management and sustainability of water resources projects in Anbar


Under the patronage of the President of the University of Anbar, Prof. Dr. Mushtak Talib Al-Neda, the Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Anbar, in cooperation with the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre and the Directorate of Water Resources in Anbar Governorate, held on Tuesday, 23/04/2024, and at Al-Jazari Hall in the College of Engineering, Scientific symposium tagged: (Employing administrative methods and modern technologies in the management and sustainability of water resources projects in Anbar).

The seminar: which was attended by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Hashem Khalil, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ameer Abdul Rahman Hilal, and a number of respected specialists in the governorate departments, and teachers at the university, aims to introduce the importance of water resources management in light of climate change, and focus on the concepts of management and planning of water resources and facing challenges in Anbar Governorate, and the possibility of exploiting the available quantities of seasonal floods resulting from rains. Shedding light on the latest water management techniques and irrigation methods, to achieve sustainable development aimed at providing the requirements of a decent living for the people of the region and meeting their domestic and agricultural water needs.

The main themes of the symposium included:

-     Challenges facing climate change in water resources management in Anbar.

-     Integrated management of the Euphrates River.

-     Investment and management of floodwaters in the Iraqi Western Desert region.

-     Numerical simulation of the collapse of the Tabqa dam on the Euphrates River.

During the seminar, a number of valuable lectures were delivered to professors and researchers from within the university and from the competent directorates, the most important of which were international relations with the riparian countries with Iraq regarding the quantities due, in addition to the quantities of water that fell during the current season and how to benefit from them, during which all opinions and discussions that were put forward to the researchers were answered, especially what was presented by the expert, Engineer Hassan Mahdi Al-Saffar, a representative of the National Center for Resource Management. Water, whose attendance and information were enriched by the great scientific value of the symposium.

At the end of the seminar, the most important recommendations that everyone seeks to achieve on the ground were read, after which certificates of appreciation were distributed to the lecturers.
