Head of Department

Dr. Ahmed T. Noaman

Head of Department

 Overview:

Civil Engineering is one of the oldest engineering department in the world. Many civil engineers were developed various type of buildings and projects such as palaces, castles and dams. In the Quran there are some clear evidence where our prophets showed their interest and pride of having such beautiful buildings.

Then over time, Civil Engineering has been continuously developed to accommodate with the modern life. Nowadays, Civil engineering includes fantastic imaginations, new designs and innovative models utilising modern technologies. These can be seen for example, by looking at various type of skyscrapers around the world, artificial islands on the shores of the seas, highway roads, bridges, tunnels and even more complex projects. Civil engineering currently includes several branches such as construction, design of road, transportation, studies related to soil, foundations, survey etc.

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Anbar is one of the oldest departments of the College of Engineering which was established in 1988. It is an important and essential department of the university's sectors. It is one of the largest departments in the College in terms of the number of academic member staff and students.

The department supplies the local and international community with hundreds of engineers, some of them occupy high level of duties in different sectors. A number of graduated students completed their studies and carried on with their academic career successfully in the prestigious Arabic and foreign universities. This can be an evidence that the outcome of the department is motivated, and the graduated students have ability to be competitive with others around the world. All of these make me, and my colleagues feel very proud that we all belong to such amazing academic place.

With the Recent development in the Civil Engineering department, it has also included a postgraduate program (master degree) in Materials engineering and Structural engineering. The department will also extend the master program for the following year to include specializing in road, transport and geotechnical engineering. The department will never stop at just this but also looking forward to involving a degree of Doctor of Philosophy in its program.

Finally, I do encourage everyone to carry on and keep this academic journey on the best level to serve the department, students and graduates.
