The public discussion of the Master’s thesis for the student (Durgham Ali Hamid), Department of Chemistry - College of Science - University of Anbar, took place on Sunday 28/8/2022 at Jaber Ibn Hayyan Hall in the College of Science for his tagged thesis:

discussing ((Preparation mesomorphic and thermal properties of  asymmetric compounds : Liquid Crystals – Nano particles composition))

The aim of the thesis is to prepare two series of new asymmetric liquid crystal diodes. The structure of all the prepared liquid crystal compounds was elucidated by CHN elemental analysis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR spectroscopy. The properties of liquid crystals have been studied by differential thermometry (DSC), polarized light microscopy (POM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD).

To improve the thermal conductivity, nanocomposites (boron nitrate and aluminum oxide) were prepared and added to the series compounds. The changes were studied by differential thermal calorimetry (DSC), differential x-rays (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

The results showed a clear improvement in thermal conductivity after the addition

 After extensive discussion by the committee members with the student on the subject of his thesis, the letter was accepted.
