The College of Basic/Haditha Education organizes a cultural seminar on the importance of reading.

In response to the slogan of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research "Read and Educate Yourself" launched on the occasion of Reading Celebration Day, and under the guidance of the Dean of the College of Basic/Haditha Education, Professor Dr. Mudhir Abdul Ali, our college organized an awareness seminar on this Sunday morning, March 3, 2024, titled "Iraq Reads" in the Conference Hall.

The seminar was moderated by Professor Dr. Halim Hammad Suleiman, who welcomed all attendees and gave an introduction on the importance of daily reading as a shield that protects the minds of youth and liberates people from the shackles of ignorance. The knowledge light increases as the reading experience expands. Following that, Dr. Ali Adel Alawi presented his lecture emphasizing key points and recommendations such as "Reading is the food of the soul. Despite our busy schedules, we need to allocate time for reading. Iraq, the country of civilizations and the inventor of writing, must preserve this cultural heritage." Assistant Professor Taghreed Jabir Aref then delivered her lecture on the elements and sources of reading, highlighting the importance of books and publications in culture that is needed in all scientific and human life fields. She also emphasized the distinction between a scholar and an intellectual, where a scholar knows everything about something, while an intellectual knows something about everything, and reading is the foundation of culture.

The seminar concluded with an open floor for feedback and discussion among the professors and students to enrich the topics presented by the speakers. The college expressed its gratitude to all those who contributed and participated in this educational seminar, praying for everyone's success.
