The research team consisting of Prof. Dr. Thaer Abdul Qadir Saleh Al-Alusi, Prof. Dr. Harith Kamel Biniyah, and master’s student Othman Moein Muhammad in the Department of Biology, succeeded with the participation of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Farhan from the Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University recorded the sequences of the GP63 gene encoding the important protein Glycoprotein, as it has a role in reducing the efficiency of the immune system in infected patients by disabling some complement mechanisms, enhancing the safe absorption of the parasite in macrophages, and reducing the regulation of ROS generation, where he performed an operation Amplification of the gene to be obtained using polymerase chain reaction technology? Then, after obtaining the required piece, samples were sent to one of the technology companies to determine the gene sequence, and then a matching process was carried out with the gene bank of the NCBI website, the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The registration was done in the name of the University of Anbar, Department of Biology, and the serial number OR105503 was given to the studied gene. It belongs to one type of Leis mania major parasite, which was part of a study on the GP63 gene.
