Introduction

The Mechanical Engineering Department was established as one of the departments of the Engineering College in 1989. The period of study is four years to have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. The first course was graduated in 1992-1993. The idea behind ??establishing the department was to be a scientific starting point and renaissance based on transforming knowledge and science developments into qualified human resources for technology localization, innovation and creativity of technology. The department has provided the local, Arab and international community with hundreds of graduates. The postgraduate studies were first created in the department for the master's degree - applied mechanics in 2000, then expanded to include both of heat transfer and production disciplines. The staff of the Mechanical Engineering Department have made efforts to improve the level of students in order to serve the scientific process and keeping up to date with the modern developments through updating the curriculum, developing laboratories and accomplish scientific research and publishing them in local and international journals in different disciplines. The department has demonstrated its scientific progress on its leadership and its ability to respond to the country's development requirements, the needs of the advanced field of work, and the provision of qualified graduates who can be proud of their active contributions in supporting the engineering sector.
