Modelling the use of saline water in (Public Downstream) irrigation in Iraq

The scientific discussions hall at the College of Engineering - Department of Dam Engineering and Water Resources under the supervision of Professor Dr. Isam Mohammed Abdulhameed, the Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center, had witnessed a public discussion on Tuesday, 9th of November 2021, at 9 a.m. for the master's student (Hala Nazim Malloki Abbood) from the Department of Dams and Water Resources, for her thesis which was entitled: (Modelling of Using Saltine Drainage Water for Irrigation – The Public Downstream – in Iraq As a Case Study).

The student's study aims to observe the water quality of downstream to determine its suitability for irrigation and create a computer program to maximize the use of moderately saline water in irrigation. Update discharge and salinity data for the Public Downstream to understand the trend of their variation by comparing data for the period (1994-1996) with updated data to study the possibility of using downstream water to create a suitable width green belt surrounding the total downstream route to improve the environment and contribute to improving water and food security. The discussion committee comprised of:

-         Prof.Dr. Ayad Sulaibi Mustafa as a Chairman.

-         Ass.Dr. Bassem Shebaa Abed as a Member.

-         Instructor Dr. Rafid Saadoun Rashid as a Member.
