To achieve sustainable development goals and vision 2030 and the directives of the university presidency to work on developing research and studies for sustainable development in Anbar Governorate, As part of its strategy to serve and develop the community, a research team from the Natural Resources Department at the Upper Euphrates Basin Development Center succeeded in the initial experiments to develop a productive forest model project by planting seedlings of Paulownia trees at the center's site at the university, where the results were very encouraging.

Where the seedlings of Paulownia trees were planted in untreated soil containing a high percentage of gypsum and without replacement or fertilizers with no removal of the existing weeds and in very hot weather, where the seedlings were carried out at the end of June with temperatures approaching50degree degree which is what Distinguish it from the rest of the experiments of planting this type of trees so that it can simulate the conditions that these trees are likely to face in reality.

This type of tree was chosen because it has a great economic yield and can be invested in developing many industries and providing great job opportunities in the western region, especially near small dams, where these trees are high distinguished productively for wood and its leaves are used as animal feed and its falling can form a natural fertilizer and its flowers are used to create beehives for honey also contribute to purifying the air by up to ten times as much as any other tree, and it is fast growing, possible within two years, the height of the tree reaches up to 4 meters.

The team included both Assistant Professor Dr. Nawfal Adnan Sabry and Dr. Saleh Mahmoud Saleh and the assistant instructor Jabar Shihab Ayadah; the experiments were supervised by both Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed, Head of the Natural Resources Department and Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Arshad Ali the responsible for the laboratory unit in the center.
