((Attention... Very important)) the runoff at the Western Desert Region is an opportunity to update and develop databases of water harvesting projects

In the interest of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre to build databases on water resources in the Upper Euphrates areas and their importance to achieving sustainable development of these areas, whether concerning the agricultural aspect or the provision of water sources for various purposes, as these projects need solid and continuous databases, floods have been recorded and monitored in several valleys and dam project basins in the region.

Within the program of cooperation and exchange of data with the Department of Small Dams in the Western Region, torrential rains have been monitored and recorded in Al-Gherri valley near the city of Rutba, in addition to the arrival of good quantities of water in the reservoir of the Rutba Dam, which has a storage capacity of 32 million cubic meters, according to Engineer Ali Saleh, responsible for small dam projects, as he pointed out that the volume of storage in the Al-Abila Dam reached to half the storage capacity of the dam, which was four million cubic meters during the past three days. 14-15-16 November 2022. Although the rain data at the Rutba station did not record great depths, the rainfall in the areas and valleys outside the centre of the city of Rutba is rain and large torrents, which requires a wide network of hydrological monitoring stations to support the databases necessary for the development and maintenance of water harvesting projects in the region and also to develop research and studies in this field, which is what the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar and the Small Dams Department belonged to the Ministry of Water Resources.
