Joint research team to study the effect of cement residues on soil and plant

The Head of the Natural Resources Development Department, Dr. Muneer Naji Ahmed, with a team from the Centre for Desert Studies, visited Kubaisa cement plant on Thursday, 23/3/2023, and they were received by the director of the laboratory, Eng. Yasseen Al-Hiti and Eng. Yaghdan Al-Ani, and they showed their full assistance in order to bring samples of secondary waste resulting from the cement industry as a by-product to conduct analyzes and research on that material because of its properties to be introduced into the field of scientific research.

The team also took soil and plant samples from outside the laboratory with the direction of the wind and at different distances to determine the extent to which they are affected by the dust resulting from the cement plant, analyze them chemically, highlight the environmental impact of the plant on the soil and plants located within the range of dust falling on that area and for different distances, determine those distances and the severity of heavy element pollution as a result of the spread of products coming out of the plant, and determine ways to treat them.
