A delegation from Al-Mustansiriya University visits the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar


Within the vision of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre and the university's strategic plan in openness and scientific cooperation between Iraqi universities, research centres and national scientific institutions to serve the community and find scientific solutions to various problems, especially those related to achieving sustainable development goals, which have become the biggest challenge for the countries of the world and their scientific institutions.

 A delegation from Al-Mustansiriya University, which included Assistant Professor Dr. (Mathak Taleb Kati), Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Science, Assistant Professor Dr. (Esra'a Qahtan), Head of the Atmospheric Sciences Department at the College, and a number of teachers and researchers in the department, visited the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at the University of Anbar.

During the meeting, they discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre at University of Anbar and the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Al-Mustansiriya University, especially with regard to climate change, which Iraq is one of the most affected countries.

The Assistant Dean of the College of Science for Scientific Affairs expressed his happiness with this visit and his thanks and appreciation for the warm reception, stressing the importance of cooperation between Iraqi research institutions to face various challenges, especially related to climate, which require redoubling efforts to reduce their effects on the country. The head of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences confirmed the readiness of researchers and teachers in the department to cooperate with the center's researchers to study various factors related to climate change, exchange data and information for meteorological stations affiliated with the universities of Anbar and Mustansiriya and form joint research teams.

For his part, the Director of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Centre, Prof. Dr. Ammar Hatem Kamel, expressed his great thanks and appreciation for the delegation's visit and the readiness of the centre and its researchers to participate in research teams and exchange meteorological databases, including the formation of research and field teams to develop water harvesting projects and research related to water resources management in dry areas and the project of meteorology and flood statistics in the western desert valleys to develop surface flow calculation models. The Director of the Centre briefed the visiting delegation on a number of research projects implemented at the university, such as water harvesting systems and the system for treating the problem of evaporation, which is implemented in cooperation with the Renewable Energy Research Centre at the University of Anbar.
