The board meeting was held periodically (first meeting) of the administrative council of the Upper Euphrates Basin Developing Center for the academic year 2020-2021, chaired by prof. Dr. Isam Mohammed Abdulhameed and the presence of the members of the council on Tuesday, 20th October 2020. The meeting discussed the following:

First: vision, mission and objectives: After a thorough discussion of the former style, the meeting agreed to reformulate the style of vision, mission and objectives as follows:

Vision

Innovation in scientific research towards;

Optimal management of natural and human resources in the Upper Euphrates Basin region of Iraq. 

Message

Preparing scientific plans to manage the resources of the Upper Euphrates Basin to create an environmental awareness of development contributes to the preparation and implementation of the comprehensive development of the basin.

Recommendation;

Upload the vision, message and objectives on the website after completing its approval.

Objectives

1.     The optimum use of human and natural resources in the Upper Euphrates Basin.

2.     Collection and updating databases related to the Upper Euphrates Basin, which include hydrological, agriculture, natural resources, geology, population, cities, history, heritage studies.... etc.

3.     Cooperation with official authorities and international, regional, local and community organizations in spreading environmental and development awareness.

4.     Adoption of the Upper Euphrates Basin Center as a reference authority for the studies related to the Upper Euphrates Basin in all scientific departments in our university.

5.     Holding a specialized periodic scientific conference and scientific symposiums.

6.     Prepare detailed studies of the large valleys in the basin for their strategic magnitude through the harvesting of rainwater by constructing small dams in them.

7.     Preparing studies related to the river and desert environment, afforestation, oases and reserves.

8.     To conclude joint cooperation mechanisms with the relevant official authorities to implement strategic research projects.

9.     Preparing studies related to agricultural wealth in both plant and animal areas.

10.                            Feasibility studies for various projects in the development of the Upper Euphrates Basin and setting the priorities of major development projects.

Second: seminar on databases.

After the success of the two seminars held by our research center on databases for the cities of Ramadi and Hadeetha, and within the center's program in the preparation of databases in Anbar province, the Council discussed holding a panel discussion at the center of each district in the upper Euphrates.

Recommendation:

Set up a panel discussion in his district to collect databases and develop a mechanism to update them and make use of them for development purposes.
