A workshop for the Women’s Empowerment Unit in cooperation with the College of Engineering

 

Under the patronage of the Honorable President of Anbar University, Professor Dr. Mushtaq Talib Saleh Al-Nada, the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the University Presidency, in cooperation with the College of Engineering, organized a workshop entitled {{Environmental Impacts of Plastic Waste}} in the presence of Dr. Zeina Jumah Ahmed and teacher Wasan Mahdi Mahmoud {members of the Women’s Empowerment Unit}

 

During the workshop, which was held today, Wednesday, May 9, 2023, in the Ibn Al-Haytham Hall in the Department of Civil Engineering, a valuable lecture was given by Dr. {Ibtihal Ahmed Mawlood}, a lecturer in the Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering, which dealt with identifying plastic, what its source is, what its chemical composition is, and how. It has become dominant in our modern lives, and life cannot be imagined without plastic.

 

 

The workshop discussed the following topics: -

 

* Types of safe and dangerous plastic depending on the plastic number

* The most important global methods used to dispose of plastic waste

* The most important applications used for the purpose of eliminating and reducing plastic waste.

Her lecture on the types of plastic showed which types are safe and which are dangerous based on the number and chemical formula of the plastic. She focused on the global methods used to dispose of plastic waste and its impact on the environment and human health. The most important studies and applications for methods of eliminating or reducing plastic waste were also reviewed, as well as possible alternatives were discussed. The role of the individual in reducing the increase in plastic waste.

 

The workshop was attended by a number of faculty and staff and students at the college.
