(Experimental Study the Effect of Adding Water Treatment Sludge Residues on Properties of Gypsums Soil in Iraq)

The study presented by the student aims to improve the resistance and stability of gypsum soils in Iraq by using sludge resulting from water treatment. In addition, XRF, SEM, XRD to observe the change occurring in the components and texture of the soil as a result of the addition of sludge and the extent of the effect of the change on the resistance and stability of the gypsum soil.

The discussion committee consisted of:
-  Dr. Mohamed Youssef Fattah        Chairman
-Dr. Nabil Shaker Mahmoud         Member
-Dr. Ibtihal Ahmed Mawlood     Member
- Prof. Dr. Khaled Rasem Mahmoud     Member and Supervisor
- Prof. Dr. Ayad Salibi Mustafa      Member and Supervisor

The thesis included conducting a gypsum soil limit test to obtain the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content. Unconfined compressive strength, Direct shear, collapse potential and CBR tests were also conducted.

The results of the study indicated that the resistance and cohesive strength of the gypsum soil increased significantly, and the probability of collapse was significantly reduced when 20% of sludge was added with treatment for 30 days. The value of unconfined pressure and cohesion increased by 1075% and 300%, respectively, and the probability of collapse decreased by 43% when adding the above sludge content. A significant change in soil texture was also observed as a result of adding sludge, as compounds with cementitious properties were produced that played an effective role in improving the properties of gypsum soil.

The discussion was attended by Mr. Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies, Professor Mohamed Abdel Ahmed, the respected Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Professor Ahmed Tariq Noman, and a number of studies students in the department.

Congratulations to the student for obtaining his degree, and to the discussion committee, success and success. We wish him to complete the scientific consultation
