A scientific, intellectual, educational, medical symposium

Our college, in scientific, intellectual and educational cooperation with the bodies mentioned above, held a scientific, intellectual, educational and medical symposium entitled: (Negative manifestations of drug abuse among young people in society

_ Antiquities and Treatment_), by Dr. Hammam Khaled Muhammad Al-Mashhadani, on this blessed and scientific day of Ramadan, which is Tuesday: 3/28/2023.

The symposium included several topics, perhaps the most important of which are:

First: the definition of addiction and the mechanism of addiction. It is a biological and behavioral mechanism that boils down to getting used to a particular practice or behavior. This behavior may develop in different stages, ending in compulsive and addictive behavior as well Compulsive disorder.

Second: The effect of addiction on mental health is represented by abnormalities, imbalance, aggressive criminal tendencies, unemployment, and the control of deviant thoughts such as terrorism and destructive thoughts.

Third: The effect of addiction on physical and psychological health: You may find that he suffers from depression / schizophrenia / suicidal tendencies / various liver diseases / heart diseases in young people / high blood pressure / strokes in young people / infertility / blood diseases and weak immunity.

Fourth: Guiding the community to discover addiction. There are signs that the father, the teacher, and the brother must be aware of, indicating that the return may be heading for safety

The most important of which is if this person is isolated and introverted and has strange ideas and if the addictive behavior affects time, hobbies, academic achievement and work and if he asks for unusual sums of money and spends most of his time outside the home and many others.

Fifth: The causes of addiction are different, the most important of which are: security chaos at the borders ignorance, poverty and unemployment are very important factors the absence of the role of the family and its dissolution and the lack of monitoring of children and their abnormal behavior and finally the absence of a legal deterrent force for drug trade and promotion.

As for what the symposium concluded:

Addiction in all its forms is a scourge that kills the individual, the family, and even society as a whole. Cases of divorce, homosexuality, crime, material destitution, prostitution, and terrorism are all forms of its results. The most dangerous cases of addiction are drug addiction, and the addicted individual is a bad seed, which soon turns into a tree that brings misery and destruction to himself, and woes to his society.

So if alcohol is the mother of impurities, then drugs are its father.

The symposium took place in the presence of a distinguished audience and witnessed a broad scientific discussion about this phenomenon and methods of treatment. These discussions were coordinated and the mechanism of dialogue between the lecturer and the recipients was moderated by Muhammad Owaid Muhammad Al-Sayer.

We ask the wise Lord to spare our youth and our society this phenomenon and its effects from all aspects, and from .
