Scientific Symposium

Under the motto "Our water between the waste of floods and the scarcity of chihod", the Center of the Upper Euphrates Basin, in collaboration with the Center for Strategic Studies, organized the scientific seminar titled "Toward a Strategic Vision for Managing the Water Crisis in Upper Euphrates Basin" on Sunday 5/5/2019. The director of the Strategic Studies Center Assist prof. Dr. Thaer Shaker Al-Hiti in chaired the session, while the Assist. Prof Dr. Abdul Aziz Khader Al-Jassim presented one of the topics of the symposium entitled (floods: historical overview) which was an interesting lecture dealt with the history of floods in Iraq and how to manage the flood crisis and treatment by previous stakeholders, Abbasid and Ottoman.The seminar was attended by the President of Anbar University, Eng. Khalid Batal Al-Najem. He expressed his pleasure in introducing such issues that address the water crisis in Iraq. He instructed water specialists to establish a feasibility study on dams in Upper Euphrates Al-Baghdadi, Bakhmah and others. At the end of the session, certificates were distributed to the lecturers and the heads of the session.
