Professor Dr. Shilan Mahmoud Hama Al-Barzanji, teaching at the College of Engineering, University of Anbar, participated with a number of teaching staff and graduate students at the College of Engineering / University of Anbar in the International Scientific Conference on Geotechnical Engineering and Energy Science, held in Baghdad for the period 17-19.3. Professor Dr. Shilan Al-Barzanji participated in three scientific research papers.

First Paper

((Influence of incorporating waste glass powder and fine waste plastic aggregate on fresh and hardened properties of structural concrete))

The research is taken from the master’s thesis by student Abeer Moayed Salah, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shilan Mahmoud Hama.

The main objective of this research is to study the effects of combining glass waste powder and plastic waste and incorporating them into concrete to produce green, environmentally friendly concrete. Study the effect of these wastes on the properties of concrete produced in its plastic and hardened states. The results showed that these wastes have the ability to improve the properties of concrete when they contain plastic waste as a partial substitute for sand at a ratio of 5%. And 15% of glass powder

Second Paper

((The effect of finesse and type of aggregate on flowability and mechanical properties of foamed concrete))

The research is taken from the thesis of doctoral student Hossam Khalaf Al-Ani, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amir Abdul Rahman Hilal and Prof. Dr. Shilan Mahmoud Hama.

The main objective of this research is to study the effect of fine aggregate type and aggregate grain gradation on the properties of foamed concrete. Two types of fine aggregate were used, ordinary sand and silica sand, and sand of different grades was also used. The study showed that the type of aggregate affects the properties of foamed concrete in addition to its gradation, as silica aggregate gave the best results in terms of soft and hard properties.

Third Paper

The research is a joint work between the teachers of the Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Shilan Mahmoud Hama and Eng. Shaho Mahmoud Hama, in cooperation with the lecturer in the Department of Engineering Affairs, Dr. Ibrahim Hakim Muhammad Al-Fahdawi

The main objective of this research is to study the effects of incorporating powdered egg shell waste after burning it to ash and incorporating it into concrete to produce green, environmentally friendly concrete and to study the effect of these wastes on the properties of the concrete produced in its plastic and hardened states. The results showed that these wastes have the ability to improve the properties of concrete. Based on the laboratory results, an optimization test was conducted and it was found that the optimal percentage for this powder is approximately 3% for the best properties for producing concrete with applicable structural specifications.

The researcher, Prof. Dr. Shilan Mahmoud Hama received a certificate of appreciation for her evaluation of seven conference papers
