Characterization of Some Iraqi Soils for Road Pavements

(Characterization of some Iraqi soils for road paving)

In the design of roads, the behavior of stress - the nonlinear stress of tiling the tiling layers and the basis of the road that is exposed to traffic loads is characterized by a modulus modulus, which is one of the design elements in the roads. , Moisture content (or degree of saturation), and energy and environmental changes (such as temperature changes, moisturizing and drying cycles, washing ... etc).

This parameter is found using a three-axis compression device under repeated loads. This type of test is expensive and consumes time and equipment to perform these tests is not always available. Many researchers have shown that the use of California stress testers (RL-CBR) is an effective and simple tool to obtain this parameter. This test will be used to find the coefficient value and to enhance the results using ultrasound tests according to a specific specification to find this parameter and compare it with Test results

The RL-CBR test principle is similar to the standard CBR test, but repeated loads are applied to load the soil at the same rate used in the physical inspection until the load that causes the penetration of 0.1 or 0.2 ang and then raise the load until the penetration is zero and repeat the process several times until it stops And the soil becomes flexible. This coefficient is calculated according to the equation derived using the method of elements specified in this test.

It is necessary to build a database for Iraqi culture in this field and to study the effect of the factors mentioned above on the value of the resilient modulus

* Second: - Delivered by a. M . Dr. Ahmed Hazem Abdel Karim under the title ..

Study the Performance of

Incorporation RAP-Geopolymer to Subgrade layer Materials

Is the study of the possibility of using the remnants of tiling layers finished design age after dismantling and turning into gravel by mixing it with the material of the geopolymer, which is manufactured using solutions of basic effectiveness and added to the soil of a fine gradient used as layers under service roads and known as this mixture

 (Soil-Geopolymer-RAP)

Several questions were raised and discussions were held between the lecturers and the attendance of the teachers and the students.

The seminar was attended by the chairman and members of the scientific committee and all the faculty members in the department and graduate students for the research and preparatory year.
