This study aimed to prepare chalcones from the compounds benzaldehyde and acetophenone, characterize them in the infrared spectrum, use these compounds as starting materials for the preparation of some heterocyclic compounds, and manufacture Schiff bases from the primary derivatives amine, isatin, and acetic acid. Then, use these compounds as a starting point for the preparation of heterocyclic rings containing... On nitrogen or oxygen, all the compounds prepared in this research were diagnosed by measuring their melting points in addition to spectroscopic methods represented by spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR spectroscopy. In addition, some compounds were diagnosed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H- NMR, carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (C-NMR)13), mass spectrometric analysis techniques, and theoretical analysis of electronic structures were proposed to study the effects on the electronic structure of heterocyclic compounds prepared using the Gaussian program. Theoretical results indicate that substituent groups affect the energies of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of the heterocyclic ring. And a study of the biological effectiveness of some prepared heterocyclic spiro compounds against bacteria and fungi .
