Department of Mechanical Engineering holds about Danger of Intellectual Extremism

 

Presence of Dean of the College of Engineering - University of Anbar, Dr. Amir A. Hilal, and by supervision of Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Mohammed A. Ahmad. The Mechanical Engineering Department held a workshop under title: -

Youth and the Danger of Intellectual Extremism

 The workshop, which was attended by the head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the college, Lec. Majid H. Talal, with number of teachers and students of the department, on Monday, 17/1/2022, at 10:00 am at discussion room in the Electrical Engineering Department.

 

Dr. Akram O. Freeh/Director of Cultural and Social Center at the University gave a lecture. He defined extremism as taking a hard and definitive stance by the individual, which is about adopting unsound ideas that generate words and actions harmful to oneself. In fact, the extremism of some young people in Their opinions, ideas and attitudes towards some social, political and religious issues are a phenomenon that has occupied their position in all societies since ancient times.

 

He added that there are many qualities for conscious youth to avoid extremism, which are: -

-         Guided vision.

-         Balance between mind, body, emotion and spirit.

-         The skill of dealing with people.

-         Self-control.
