Discussion of MSc student (Omar Adel Muhammad) / Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering

Scientific discussion of MSc student (Omar A. Muhammad)/ Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering / College of Engineering / University of Anbar, took place on his thesis:

Detection of Potential Zones of Ground Water for Watershed by Using Analytical Hierarchy Process and GIS

On Wednesday 5/1/2022 at 9:00 am in discussion room in the Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering.

This study presented aims to develop a comprehensive and reliable method for delineating potential areas for groundwater recharge in arid and semi-arid regions such as the Iraqi Western Desert using modern techniques RS, GIS, AHP.

In order to determine the potential locations of groundwater recharge areas, two separate areas were selected from the Western Desert, the first is the Wadi al-Muhammadi basin area, which contains the wells needed to test the model, and the second is the Wadi al-Qadhf basin area. Several maps were derived for several factors such as geomorphology, geology, land slope, soil infiltration, land use, rainfall, stream drainage density and fault density using ArcGIS program.

 The discussion committee consisted of:

- Dr. Ayad S. Mustafa.

- Dr. Ammar H. Kamel.

- Dr.  Maytham M. Sharqi.

- Dr. Khamis N. Sayel.
