 Within the scientific events and activities of the College of Pharmacy for the academic year 2023-2024, the College of Pharmacy - Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized on Thursday, February 15, 2024, a scientific symposium entitled:

 Stay away from drugs and toxins

 The symposium included a lecture by the assistant lecturer (Mahmoud Majed Salman), one of the teachers of the College of Pharmacy, Clinical Pharmacy Branch, in which he explained the impact of drugs and toxins and their health risks. During which he explained that drug addiction is one of the most dangerous problems to which the individual or society is exposed, as the harms of drug abuse and toxins do not affect Not only addictive, but its effects extend to social and economic damage.
The symposium aimed to increase awareness, education, and dissemination of scientific information in the field of prevention and immunization of the youth group from the scourge of drugs and toxins because they are the foundation and pillar on which the future of Iraq is built. The symposium also addressed the most common types of drugs, as well as focused on the stages and causes of drug abuse and the health, social, economic and security harms of addiction to the individual and society.
  It was also extremist during the symposium that drugs cause crime, moral and social decay, and spread infectious diseases and violence. Therefore, the responsibility of society and state institutions is solidarity and joint in order to deal with the risk factors that encourage abuse and addiction, and focus on prevention and education to protect our youth from deterioration and loss, as the symposium addressed. The legal framework for combating drugs and the role of the pharmacist in reducing the spread of drug abuse and toxins.
